I think that one of the best ways to develop your skills as an artist is to mimic the styles and subjects of the artists you admire. To that end, I try to find artists on social media whose styles I'm drawn to, then I seek out tutorial videos that will help me understand the logistics of how they built their drawings. I taught myself to use the Procreate app on my iPad in this way.

You'll see quite a few doodles of maps on this page. That's because when I let my mind wander, for some reason it always wants to draw maps. I like to imagine what the world I'm drawing would be like, writing little stories in my head for the people who live there as I draw.
